This is our last night in Ko Tao, and it has been great. This is the smallest and best of the three islands in the Gulf of Thailand for snorkelling and diving. We have spent much of the last four days here snorkelling. Lots of cool beaches. To get to them, rather than catch a boat around the island, we rented a scooter to get as far as we could, then we would walk the rest. Roads here are sketchy to say the least. The few roads that are paved, one must ride though the odd toilet water puddle. Nothing we can't handle.

So we made our way on the scooter to several beaches. See me on the bike...man am I cool.

As we park, Darcie notes to me, "I think we are getting a flat tire."
"No it just looks flat!" I said.
It was worth the 10 minute walk to the beach, cause we ended up finding paradise. Snorkelled here, ate lunch and snorkelled some more. Lots of fish that swim right with you. I think they think that we are there to protect them. Darcie even saw a stingray. Good thing it didn't get her in the heart like Steve Irwin.

So after a long day on the beach, we make the trek back to the bike to find that sure enough, Darcie was right again. I don't know why I don't listen to her more often. The tire was now completely flat.

So we drive on it anyways, cause what were we supposed to do. We end up finding a bike repair shop, and the kind fella fixes it for us. What an adventure.

Here are some more random pics for you to enjoy.

We are now off to the largest of the three island, Ko Samui. It is also the most developed. Andreah...I heard they even have Starbucks there!

Hey ... I did SO leave a comment! I told you that with Stingrays as a threat, you both should come home and take up crocheting. I also said, that if you're anything like Cam, you'd say that you'd probably stab yourself with a crochet hook, so why bother changing things?
Anyhow, I can't remember what else I said so I'm not even going to trash my brain ... remember, I'm old and can't retain a thought that entered my brain ten minutes ago.
I DO remember that I said .. "Thanks for keeping us updated on your travels" (or words to that effect).
Love you both ... Mom
Just scoped out your blog and reread my comment. No doubt you're wondering what the heck I was talking about when I said "I did SO leave a comment!"? Well, as per usual, computers don't like me and when I put in my first comment and sent it, nothing came up. In other words, I was being ignored so ... I put in a second comment.
Anyhow ... we're scorching here .. high 20's to low 30's and it's been like this all week! It's supposed to rain come Monday or Tuesday but by then, the damage will have been done ... the Fraser is rising rapidly so we should start seeing some flooding. It's gonna be interesting at camp for sure!
Norm and I aren't towing the little trailer down 'til after the flood threat is over and with the big one, we're not putting the awning down or the gazebo up ... just in case we have to tow out in a hurry.
If we do get flooding, I'm going to be really p'd off .. I just spent $125 on gravel and it's all laid in plus I'll be planting $65 worth of flowers. You might ask why I'm putting the flowers in regardless of the threat? Well, why not? .. if my site floods, there's not going to be any garden left to plant them in anyhow so might as well enjoy the colour while we can.
Take care .. love Mom
I WANNA GO THERE!! xo
OK you guys ... it's been three days since you sent us an update ... wha's up with that? Did a sting-ray get you? .. did you get hung up on a coral reef? .. Darcie .. are you having a hard time finding a suitable
"coat" to wear to protect you from the sun? Anyhow, quit having so much fun and let us know what's happening OK?
Gotta let you know ... according to Rae-Lynn and Syd (who was at work), they had an awesome lightning show with big booms to boot tonight. Of course, here I am in New West with an unfettered view from here to the Island and I saw NOTHING ... how boring is that? I DID get some of the rain that accompanied their light show .. but again, b-o-r-i-n-g! I see rain all the time .. give me the flash, crash, bang, booms and I'm a happy camper!
Talked to Auntie Jeanie tonight and she says that their side of downtown Chilliwack has been sand-bagged and put on flood alert so they've pulled all their stuff out of their crawl space and stored it on the main floor of their house. Apparently, the golf course close to them has already lost three of their "holes" to flooding.
Looks like it could turn out to be an interesting start to our camp time! Norm and I are planning to go up to Emory on June 12th to tow the big trailer down but according to the flood watch, that's right in the middle of the expected
"crest" at Hope. Hmmm ... maybe instead of a keg of beer I should put more importance on "water wings"?
Anyhow, keep safe AND keep in touch! We all check your blog every day and get panicky when there's no new input.
Love you both ... Mom
